Review: Julep Bare Face Cleansing Oil

Happy 2014 Everyone ! ! !
I hope everyone had a great Holiday and got great goodies for the new year!
To start of 2014, I would like to share with you this amazing product:

I purchased this, Julep Bare Face Cleansing Oil, while I was at Julep Pop-Up Shop in NYC, which I wrote about HERE. At the Pop Up Shop I was able to build my first Julep Maven box, and so I chose two nail polishes and this oil, all three items totaled to $20 (+tax), which is what you pay for their monthly Julep Maven subscription box. But you can buy this product by itself at the Julep website and it retails for $28, which you can check out here:

A few information about this product from their site:
"Bare Face Cleansing Oil: This lightweight, antioxidant-rich cleanser gently and thoroughly dissolves makeup, dirt, and excess oil without over-drying skin, then rinses clean with no oily residue. Recommended for all skin types."
What made me choose for this product are the great benefits of the ingredients in it!

  • Rosehip Seed Oil: this is full of vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids to help reduce acne scars, fine lines and helps to keep the skin hydrated.
  • I have never heard of the next two ingredients in this product so here's what it says on Julep's site:
    • Malvaceae Lipid Extract™ – a lipid complex that provides immediate and long-lasting hydration and works to rebuild skin structure from the inside out
    • Green coffee bean oil – a natural anti-inflammatory that promotes cell turnover

  • "Formula includes grapeseed oil, a natural antioxidant that protects skin from harmful free radicals, and olive oil, a natural source of vitamin E that softens and helps prevent post-cleansing dehydration"

  • My Verdict:
    • On days I do have heavy makeup on such as some waterproof eye makeup, I would use two pumps of this and massage it all over my face. Rinse and I'm done!
    • No need to use any eye makeup remover when I use this oil.
    • Out of habit I still go use my toner, moisturizer and all my creams for the night afterwards BUT if you are too tired at night and just want to rinse off your makeup and go to bed, the great oils in this product keeps your skin pretty moisturize.
    • No oily residue feeling afterwards or tight-dry feeling skin
    • With all the oils I just massaged all over my face, my skin feels pretty soft actually.
    • It has that nice refreshing, citrus scent (the site says it's the pink grapefruit scent but I'm not really sure how that smells but this one smells nice!)
    • I don't use this everyday but I am not seeing any break outs at all after using it a couple of times the past month!
      • I was really skeptic of using oil all over my sensitive skin but I am not seeing any bad break outs with this.

    • In the picture above, I just used a paper towel to wipe off the Julep Bare Face Cleansing Oil to remove the lip swatches on my arm to show how easy the makeup will come off with this oil but I still washed off with water once the photo shoot was over.
      • It literally just took one swipe of the tissue to get off most of it!
      • My arm did not feel drying at all nor there was any greasy residue after. *you know what I'm talking about when a hand soap either makes your hands feels super dry, you need to put lotion right away or a lotion that just feels theres a layer of oil on top of your skin since it is not easily absorbed. - This oil does not give me neither too oily or too dry feeling afterwards!

Overall this is a great makeup remover! It does not clog up my pores and actually has good benefits to keep my skin looking healthier and acne free. It is good to know this will help with my future fine lines and improve the looks of my acne scars too!

Yes this is another highly recommended product by yours truly (as Liz from My Pretty Obsessions would like to say "Miss FiveTwo" which I might steal by the way!) if you are looking for a great makeup remover!

I cannot say much yet about the Julep Maven monthly subscription box but seeing how lovely their nail polishes are, plus they have skin care, makeup and other so many other beauty products, I am sure it is a great box for beautyholics like us...If you guys are interested in signing up for their box, you can use my referral link here:
