Clarisonic Mia2: 2 Wk Update

I was planning on updating you all earlier than two weeks but honestly speaking here, when my blogging brain is off and my post is not how I want it to be - I will not post it! Just like when a Chef is not satisfied with his dish he will not serve it, type of analogy.
Moving on, you probably are all wondering (or not! either way I'm still going to tell you!) how it has been between me and my Mia2. Here's a quick recap of the past two weeks, since I do want to share a few pictures here of the Clarisonic Mia2 box:

  • After first time of using it, my skin already felt smoother and softer! Better than when I exfoliate!
  • I have been using it every Sundays and Wednesdays nights only, to not irritate my skin since my skin is pretty sensitive.
  • I have also changed my skincare products to the new Michael Todd Acne Skin Regimen Kit (a separate blog post review soon!) in addition to my prescribed topical creams. You can check it here for the product list.

  • After Week 1: The acne I had from my hormonal breakouts, dried out faster! Like in a few days! It would usually take weeks for it to disappear but with this new regimen I can only see improvements! Trying to stay positive here.
  • After Week 2: My skin is going through dry patches right now, I think it's because of this new skin care routine I am in (or the weather, I'm not really sure) but hopefully it just goes well from here! I have not seen any new breakouts (knockin' on wood!)
  • My moisturizer and face serum sinks in to the skin faster!
  • My liquid foundation (UD Naked Foundation) looks better already on my skin after I have only used the Mia2, five times! My skin is not flawless but it feels smoother than it used to, except for the dry patchy areas.
  • I have been keeping a photo diary of my skin as I use this, which I will share with you all when I have an "after" picture for you all to compare. Not sure when that will happen but no pictures for now (sorry!).
  • I've used it in the shower and over the sink and it's easy to handle and pretty light.
  • I do wish the brush is smaller since it's hard to go around the nose with the big brush.
  • Wish the timer could be longer so I could add my neck area. Or maybe just do a minute in the neck area? Has anybody else have done that?
  • I have not used the High Speed setting since I am still breaking it in to my skin regimen.
I do want to share you all a few pictures of the Clarisonic Mia2 packaging:

this is what it came with my Clarisonic Mia2. I love Fresh and this is truly gentle for sensitive skin. I haven't use the Lotus Youth Cream but I only read great things about it!

I guess that's it for now. As you can see I have added a tab on my blog called "ftc Mia2 diaries" so you can just click on that tab if you just want to see my updates on my use of the Clarisonic Mia2. I am not sure how often I will be posting an update but if I do see any changes I will definitely let you guys know.

Thank you guys for stopping by and see you all on my next post!

Ipsy October 2013 Glambag

"The Art of Beauty"
is Ipsy's October Glambags theme.
IPSY is a monthly subscription beauty bag that has 5 varies from deluxe samples to full size beauty products  that is based on a theme sent out every month for only $10! So if you are into make-up and beauty products, and looove to try out new products go check out this subscription service!

Now let's look at my bag!
Ipsy October 2013 Glambag

These products were matched to me through their IpsyMatch beauty quiz. And based on my answers this is pretty much what I did want: beauty tools, nail, hair and eye products. I am not sure about the make-up wipes but it doesn't hurt to have it around!

First, let's look at the LaFresh Eco-Beauty Oil-Free Face Cleaner:
"The La Fresh® Eco-Beauty® Oil-Free Face Cleanser Wipes gently cleanses and detoxifies skin. Contains pineapple, vitamin E, cucumber, marshmallow, oat, aloe and chamomile extracts. These wipes are biodegradable, compostable and are packaged using clean, renewal solar energy. Paraben-free."

I have receieved a LaFresh make-up wipes before from Ipsy and was not a big fan of it. It had something that was irritating my skin and so I just used it to remove swatches from my arms after taking pictures for the blog. I have not opened this one yet but I will try one tonight and give you an update later on.

This Coastal Scents Medium Shadow Brush has nice soft bristles to it. It is wider than my usual flat shader brush which is the ELF Studio synthetic brush or the EcoTools flat brush. I have not used it since I just washed this brush over the weekend. I think this will be great to pack on eye shadow all over the lid or too highlight by the brow. If it's too big for your eyes, try using this for highlighting your cheekbones, cupid's bow or contouring your nose!

Next thing I got is this pretty bottle from Zoya Nail Polish in Neve:
"Part of the Fall 2013 CASHMERES & SATINS Collection, these shades are created to work together with this season's most stylish runway designs and luxurious fabric blends. These ultra long-wearing, glossy nail lacquers by Zoya are BIG5FREE - free of toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and dibutyl phthalate (DBP)."
I have received a Zoya nail polish with Ipsy before and love how the formula is just so pigmented and is so easy to apply! The brush is perfect for my nails to do the center then get both sides with one coat. I do two coats though to make it darker, and smoothen out my shaky first coat application! So I put this on the next day and got so many compliments from it! Here's an Instagram picture of it on my nails:

It's really pretty! Even my friend was eyeing it since her favorite color is blue so I'll be giving this one to her. I have another polish in the same shade already so she can keep this one.

For my hair product, I received another Big Sexy Hair, this times it's this Blow Out Volumizing Gel:
"The Sexy Hair Blow Gel is an alcohol-free gel that thickens hair while adding volume. It also helps retain moisture so your hair never feels dry. Delivers a light to medium hold."
It says on the bottle to apply to damp hair from roots to ends then blow dry. I tried this over the weekend and did not see much change on my hair. This could be my fault too since I don't really know how to properly blow dry my hair! I am interested to see how the Ipster Gurus will be using this and maybe get some tips as well. I do love this brand since I have gotten other hair products from them with my previous Ipsy bags (again!) so I will keep playing with this.
Right now my hair still feels soft, I don't feel any gel build up or anything so that's a good thing, just no volume.

"It's easy to create a variety of looks with Bella Terra Mineral Cosmetics Mineral Shimmers! As an 8-in-1 product, the Mineral Shimmers are a creamy eye shadow, matte eyeshadow, eyeliner, lip color, nail polish, mascara, body glitter, and hair color for fun hair streaks! Available for purchase in 60 luminous and luxurious shades."

shade: Emotion (purple shimmery shade)
I have never heard of this brand but I am in-loove with the shade I got! The swatch above looks very pigmented just from one tap from the jar! On the eye lids though using a flat synthetic brush and over an eye primer, I needed to layer it a bit to get to that color intensity. Maybe I'll use my finger next time!

Here's how it looks on my lids and how I would wear this shade:
I wanted to see if I can be light handed with this shadow and wear it during the daytime and give my neutral shadows a break. And as you can see, it is wearable for day time! A nice subtle purple smokey daytime eye is just perfect with pinky-nude lips and glowy skin! *My skin is actually feeling dry lately so I didn't powder over my UD Naked Foundation.* I can do a different post on this FOTD look if you guys like, so this post don't get too long. Comment below!

This is how I really stepped out of the house since I can't see without ma glasses on!

Overall, this month's bag was not bad at all. I always love the make-up products I get in the bag since this helps to build my make-up collection and try out new things! My hair products have grown as well though most of the time I just leave my hair alone and use argan oil when it is feeling frizzy and dry. I always love to get new nail polishes and face wipes are good to have for those "you'll-never-know" situations. Again, click on the product names above to link you to the Ipsy Discount Code to those products, if you are interested in purchasing any of it.

Unfortunately, this will be my last Ipsy bag for now. This is actually my 12th bag and yes a year ago is when I signed up with Ipsy and have loved most of the items I have received from them. I just think it was time for me and Ipsy to break up for a bit and just enjoy all the eye liners, lip products, eye shadows and so on that I have received from the past year I have subscribed. Plus, a new girl can take my spot and try out all these amazing products Ipsy has been featuring in their bags! I personally have enough in my collection to actually not buy anymore make-up but the holidays are coming so many deals and new collections are coming out in the drugstores that I think I will spend my $10 on those instead. I am not saying, I won't be signing back up again but right now I have enough.

I'll see you all on my next post you gorgeous peeps! And hope you all have a great week!

Sunshine Award

Hello my lovely gorgeous Sunshines! Yes YOU! You who are reading this! Or even just came to check out my site for a bit just gives rockin' sunshine to my day! Cheesy as it sounds but you have no idea how much I appreciate you guys taking your time to read and comment, subscribe, follow on all my social medias, likes, tweet, retweet, and everything else in between! Huge hugs from me to you all!!!
I wanted to post so many other ones I have lined up but I want to end this week with this awesome award that Ashely from CiaoBella & Erica of Diary of a Trendaholic has tagged me. If you guys have not checked out their blogs, click over here:

So these awesome ladies have awarded me the. . .

Sunshine Award
is an award given to those who inspire us and bring sunshine into our lives.
I am just really touched with this award. When I started this blog I did not think I would be giving more than my opinion, and to know that I have inspired and be their sunshine just makes me teary!
Happy tears!

Few simple rules on this award:
  • *Include the award logo in your blog post
  • *Link to the person who nominated you
  • *Answer 10 questions about yourself
  • *Nominate other bloggers

Now to answer Ashley's Questions:

1. What made you start blogging and why?

  • At first it was a way for me to keep notes on all the beauty products I use; I used it as my virtual diary, then eventually it grew to this awesome community which is great! I became more and more active as well when I started subscribing to the monthly beauty subscriptions. Blogging was one way for me to keep up with what I think of them, and didn't really expect a lot of other girls out there are interested to read what I have to write!

2. When did you first wear makeup?

  • When I started working Front Desk (years ago!), I needed to look more put together and older. People always think I am 16, which is a compliment I know but I was getting treated like a kid and they think I do not know what I am doing. So I started wearing drugstore tinted moisturizer and tinted lip balm. I still really don't know what I was doing but I did not have time for all that since I was going to school part-time then too.

3. What are your Fall go-to makeup colors?

  • This year I'd like to do golds and purples on the eyes and if I wear a neutral eye look - I'd go bold with my lip colors which is usually berry colors: dark reds with purple undertones.

4. Where is your favorite place to relax?

  • On our big couch since my dog cuddles with me.

5. Who's your favorite beauty guru?

  • YouTube Beauty Guru, Jaclyn Hill. I have only subscribed to her recently and she already has taught me how to contour, wear red lips, do a smokey eye and a cat eye! And oh yeah she's the one who made me buy my Holy Grail foundation brush, Sigma F80!

6. Where is your dream vacation?

  • Eurotrip to Paris, Italy and Greece.

7. If you were on a deserted island, what beauty items would you have?

  • sunscreen and a lip balm, and hopefully the island has some aloe vera =)

8. What is the one thing you like about blogging the most?

  • I get to write what I want, the way I want it. No editors to tell me what not to write or how to write it. And I also feel like I am hanging out with other beautyholics like moi;  other bloggers who understand me and vice versa! It makes me feel I am not alone in this beauty journey I am going through!

9. Favorite Fall treat?

  • Fresh Pumpkin Pie from the orchard!

10. What is your dream job? Why?

  • It changes everyday! Years ago, I wanted to be a doctor. Two years ago I was an aspiring author. A few months ago, I was dreaming to be a Beauty Guru like the ones on YouTube. Right now my dream job is to be a guest blog writer for InStyle or Glamour or any fashion mags. Ask me next month, it might be different again.

These are my other Sunshines!

Answers to Erica's Questions:

1. What is your favorite movie?
  • The Notebook
2. How long does your daily makeup/beauty routine take?
  • 30 mins
3. What is your favorite way to spend your free time/ what is your ideal afternoon?
  • Since we have a small place, we love to go out for Brunch on weekends, either at our usual places or from our lists of places we want to try. There's so many new restaurants always opening in Brooklyn. So if we have the budget we'd go eat out.
4. Who is your celebrity crush?
  • Ryan Gosling and Angelina Jolie
5. What is your favorite holiday?
  • does my Birthday count? Ok besides that probably, Christmas because this is a holiday with family.
6. What nail polish color are you loving right now?
  • Since it's Fall I am leaning toward the dark polishes: blues, grays, deep purple
7. If you were to win a FREE shopping spree what store would you choose to go nuts in?
  • Nordstrom (I usually don't shop at department stores but they have everything in there and I don't mind getting overwhelmed for a FREE shopping spree! shoes, clothes, bags, makeup!!!)
8. What is your favorite novel?
  • The Wizard of Oz (It's a book I would give to every kid I know!)
9. What is your current beauty/makeup obsession?
  • theBalm cosmetics and Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks!
10. If you could only wear one color eye shadow for the rest of your life what color would you wear?
  • I am just starting to branch out to color eye shadows and right now I am loving purple shadows!

UPDATE 10.30.2013: The beautiful Cella Paz of For The Love of Beauty have also tagged me! And here are her questions and my answers:

1. If you could go back in time and learn one beauty trick sooner, what would it be?

  • Concealing. I've always had acne issues and now I can't stop looking for the perfect concealer for me!
2. Who taught you how to apply makeup?

  • YouTube. I asked my friend who always had great makeup on if she can teach me and she goes "oh I go to YouTube for my makeup stuff!"
3. Do you prefer straight or curly hair?

  • Wavy, which is how my hair is naturally. I'd love to do nice loose curls with no frizz - as soon as I get my hands on a curling wand!
4. What is your go-to makeup look for a night out?

  • Lately, smokey eyes since I just learned how to achieve a nice smokey eye! If I'm too lazy I go for a deep red color on the lips.
5. What is on your Christmas wish list?

  • Omigosh, a lot! First is the curling iron on my Amazon Wish List hehehe. Then in no particular order: wedge sneakers, Lorac Pro Palette, Sigma eye makeup brush collection, the whole collection of Revlon's Matte lip balms, Josie Maran whipped argan body cream OR a Sephora, Ulta and Joe Fresh gift card will do  . .oh I can go on all day on this hehehe!
6. What are your favorite makeup brands?

  • theBalm cosmetics and Urban Decay
7. What brand do you NOT like, but other people rave about?

  • Covergirl.
8. What's your favorite every day lipstick shade?

  • You are all probably thinking my UD lipstick in Venom BUT when I'm in a hurry I grab my Revlon Kissable Balm Stain in Crush - it's another great deep red color and it leaves a nice stain on the lips!
9. Who are your favorite YouTube beauty gurus?

  • Jaclyn Hill, LeighAnnSays, EmilyNoel83, ItsJudyTime
10. What is your favorite foundation?

  • Urban Decay Naked (8.0) and bareMinerals original foundation (golden tan)

*thank you so much Cella for tagging me! I really enjoyed answering these questions and oh man I can go on and on with my answers too!

PopSugar Must Have OCTOBER Box

PopSugar Must Have Box is a monthly subscription box that has full size items that were hand selected by the Editors of PopSugar! These items vary from:  Must Have Home, Food, Beauty and Fashion. They have recently announced that as of November 4, the boxes will be $39.95. But if you sign up now for a 3, 6 or 12month subscription you will lock in the price of $35/box! Just a little hint, they have collaborated with Neiman Marcus for next month's box if you guys are interested in signing up! Here's a hint they posted on their Instagram:

You can also use the code Refer5 to get $5 off on your first PopSugar Box. And please if you could kindly use my referral link: http://popsu.gr/nmUl
Thank you! You rock!
Now onto this month's box!

October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, PopSugar will be donating $1 for every box sold this month to breast cancer research. They have also teamed up with a couple of companies that supports a lot of other breast cancer charities. They of course, included a bit of Halloween theme in their box as well. Let's just go ahead and see what was in this month's box!

Must Have Beauty
Julep for PopSugar Duo
NYX Cosmetic Liquid Liner & Smokey Shadow Palette

PopSugar have teamed up with Julep for this exclusive nail polish duo. One is a top coat which dries in 5 minutes and dries smudge-free. I love the top coat and have protected my nails from chipping! The other one is in shade Coco,  which is reddish-brown in color. Sorry I haven't worn it yet, but keep an eye on my Instagram feed (which you can see on the right side of this blog site OR HERE!) soon!

I have been eyeing the NYX Smokey Shadow Palette since I saw it from Rose of Beauty Bar Daily's post, here. I was really so close on getting that kit but good thing I didn't since PopSugar have included it in this months box! I have used this over the weekend to do a daytime and nighttime smokey eye and it's ok. NYX shadows have not been the most pigmented shadows comparing it to theBalm Nude 'Tude palette. I have to see how they do if I use the NYX pencil in Milk underneath to make the color pop more.
I have not tried the NYX Liquid Liner yet since I have other liquid liners that I am using right now so I don't know yet if I am keeping this one or not.
I am very excited to see Julep nail polishes in this month's box since I have been eyeing these polishes since I have seen them every where! Glad they teamed up with Julep!

Must Have Beauty
The Wet Brush
"The magic of The Wet Brush is in the specially formulated bristles that eliminate all the tugging, tearing, pulling, and ripping...The Wet Brush are making a donation toward the fight against breast cancer for every brush included in this month's box."

I have not tried this brush since I am using the Tangle Teezer brush (I bought here), and has been working well with my wet or dry long hair.

Must Have Fashion
Jane Tran Bobby Pins
I have never heard of Jane Tran before but these bobby pins are pretty cute! I love the colors, very wearable for everyday use. I love wearing bobby pins to do a simple half-do or keep my bangs away from my face. So these are a keeper!

Must Have Fashion
Gorjana Charity Bali Bead Bracelet
"When someone purchases this bracelet- made in our signature pink color- on the gorjana retail site, 100 percent of the proceeds of the piece go to the charity Breast Cancer Connections."
Here's the link to their site:

"Wear your pink with pride this October."
It's not 10% or 20% to charity but 100% of the proceeds goes to Breast Cancer Connections! It's such a win-win situation when you get a nice piece of  jewelry for helping out a charity!

Must Have Food
The Can't Cook Book: Recipes for the Absolutely Terrified!
This has pages dedicated to the ones who have not turned on their oven and have used it as a shoe storage instead. Jessica Seinfeld (yes, Jerry Seinfeld's wife!), will tell you what you would need in your kitchen to get started and how to prep, chop the garlic and measure your liquids and dry ingredients.

I have browsed through the book already and though I am no newbie in the kitchen (just lazy), I do love how simple the recipes are, the prepping and the ingredients! She even has a "Quickie" section in here that does not need any cooking and it's not just salads!
You can check out more of the book here:
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-cant-cook-book-jessica-seinfeld/1113741705

Must Have Food
The Crispery Halloween Crispycake
"Handmade, soft, and perfectly gooey, these gourmet crispy cakes from The Crispery will put a smile on the face of your inner child."
This definitely was gone the same day I got my box! Paired this with a cup of Earl Grey and my morning was satisfied! Yes I had it for breakfast my friends and I do not regret it! This was definitely, soft and gooey! It was easy to eat with a fork (since I was checking my blogs and emails, Instagram and tweets on the phone as well), I really did not want to use my hands while multitasking. I have a sweet tooth and this was just perfect with a nice hot tea for me. I don't really care about the sprinkles but I love how gooey this is and just delicious!
Check out more of this company here: TheCrispery.com

Special Extra
Stitch Fix
"Try out this fun new personal styling service to get handpicked fashion goodies delivered right to your door."

StitchFix is not a monthly subscription box but you create your style profile and your personal stylist will send you 5 items that he/she would think you would like (clothes and accessories). This card gives you $20 towards the stylist fee and then can be applied later on to your purchase and if you buy all the items they have included in the box, you get 25% off the total purchase! You can return what you don't like and just pay for the item(s) you want to keep. I think you have three days to return it.
Read more about them on their site here: https://stitchfix.com

"Enjoy $20 off your purchase plus a waived styling fee."

It is an interesting concept since you are not locked-in to a monthly fee and you only pay if you do want to keep an item. I do still need to read on this more; look at more blog reviews on this site since I have not heard or read anything about this.

And that is it for my PopSugar Must Have Box for October folks! I actually can't stop thinking of next month's box already since it's a collaboration with Neiman Marcus! All I know about Neiman Marcus is it's some fancy shopping happening in there! PopSugar is really good by not showing any more hints with their boxes so we all just have to wait and see what else is in it!

So what do you think of this subscription box? Is it something you would sign-up for?

Okay my gorgeous peeps, thanks for stopping by and hopefully I see you all again on my next post!

Benefit Cosmetics Creaseless Cream Shadow Review

"Bikini-tini" & "Bronze Have More Fun"
Here's a little info of these  Creaseless Cream Shadows from Benefit Cosmetics website:

"Our award-winning cream shadows are as crease-proof & budge-proof as ever! The 10 incredibly wearable shades (including original favorites r.s.v.p., birthday suit and skinny jeans) glide on easily and last all day long. It’s fresh & fabulous color for all."

DISCLOSURE: I received these products as part of my Lash Bash Party package and did not get paid or asked by Benefit Cosmetics for this review. This was part of a prize and so I did not pay for these products. The views and opinions on this post are solely my own.

PACKAGING:

  • The cardboard box reminds me of the vintage style hat boxes in the 30's. It's so cute!
  • The shadow itself is in a nice glass container.
  • There's 4.5g, Net wt. 0.16 oz per container.
  • The jar has a weight to it, for me not travel friendly.
  • I love how the jar is big enough even if I am sporting some long nails, it will not be in the way!

PRODUCT:

  • Shades I received are: Bikini-Tini (champagne shade) &  Bronze Have More Fun (antique bronze color). Pretty neutral and very wearable everyday colors.
  • It is very creamy like buttah! You don't need a lot of pressure to dip in, just press on gently and glide to the creaminess of the product and you'll have enough product on your finger.
  • It is suggested to use your fingertip for application. And I found this the best way as well to apply it on to the lids.
  • You can use a synthetic flat brush but for me it applied patchy on my lids.

THE TEST: Of course I had to put it to the test myself! To see is to believe and can't just believe all the hype.
  • I did not put any primer on my eyes. And just used both shades: Bikini-tini on the inner corners and Bronze Have More Fun all over the lid and up a little bit to the crease.
  • Since I was just at home doing the "crease test" on these products, I did not put anything else on my eyes. Not even mascara on!
Daylight lighting so color is a little washed out on the picture
  • The above picture, I used the sunlight coming from the window so it washed out the color.
  • I just wanted to show here that there's nothing else on my eyes but the two products, that morning. So sorry, if my application was a little bit messy here and not that pretty. I wouldn't go out of the house either having my shadows looking like a mess!

I used the white light in the bathroom and gives truer color of the creams!
  • After 6 hours, I used the light in our bathroom. It's Daylight CFL light bulbs and this showed a truer color of the creams actually.

THE VERDICT
  • Looking at the After picture above, it is truly a creaseless cream shadow!
  • The color didn't fade either. It has a pretty good pigmentation which can be built up.
  • Best way to apply it is with your finger tip and pack it on lightly and build your color from there.
  • I am not sure if I would call this smudge-proof. Since the Bikini-tini in my inner corners have faded from me wiping away "yawn tears". But I'm sure with some powder shadow over it, this will last a good day!
  • On their website this cost $20/ each. I think this is an over priced product. I feel like you are paying for all the packaging. I know they are known for their cute packaging but I'm sure the prices of their products will be lower if they just keep it still cute but simple!
  • Here's the link to their site, if you want to check the other shades: http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/product/view/new-creaseless-cream-shadow
  • The color choices are pretty neutral and it will not be hard to find a dupe for them at the drugstore.
  • Since I just got this recently, I am not sure how fast these dries out but hopefully the jars do seal pretty tightly that this will last me a while.
  • If you really want to splurge, yes I would recommend you to get these. But if this is something not within your budget, I do have a drugstore recommendation for you too (comment below if you don't know what product I am talking about here).

Overall, yes I am very impressed with the staying power of this shadow and how it did not crease at all! I am just meh! for the color options in the line since they are not so out of the ordinary colors. It's not like you can only find it in this line. It is not something you MUST have or NEED right now but I would recommend this if you are looking and planning to purchase just Benefit Cosmetics products.

My blogging brain (caffeine deprived) is a little off today but I wanted to post this already before my "blog list"  piles up again. If there's anything not clear about my review please just comment down below!

Thanks for stopping by my blog all you gorgeous peeps and hope to see you all on my next post!
