Taking It All Off

What products do you use to take your makeup off? Do you use any at all or you just let your face wash do all the work?
As my beauty blogging journey grows, it has helped me explore the huge beauty world and try out tons of different beauty products including makeup removers.
As the journey to find the best makeup out there, that includes the best makeup remover as well.
 Shall we take a look...

As it is fun to play with makeup and have brows-on-point or have a flawless JLo Glow, it isn't so much fun taking it all off at the end of the day especially when there's still some residue left after using your makeup remover. Is it time to try a new makeup remover? Maybe?
After using the three products I'm about to share with you here, I have learned they all remove makeup in different levels, that statement may not make sense right now but keep reading.

*IMPORTANT Note: This is just my personal experience using these products. I also want to mention my skin status which is sensitive-combination skin. I am also taking Spironolactone medication and Tazorac retinoid cream for my acne which could affect the result of my experience with these products.

Cailyn Dizzolv'It
Makeup Melt Cleansing Balm
This balm comes in a 50g and 100g jars that retails for $24-36
As you massage some of this balm to your face your body temperature slowly melts into oil that removes all your makeup even the waterproof one. This is a gentle and mild cleanser that doesn't leave the skin dry or irritate it. This has antioxidant ingredients:

  • to soothe (Aloe Vera)
  • to refresh (Papaya Enzyme, dissolves the dead skin cells and helps to promote skin renewal)
  • and indulge (Acerola, anti-oxidant that is a great natural source of Vit.C) the skin.
I have used this as well to remove long-lasting lip products and it removed everything! I like to use this also on my eyes especially on days I have layered my eyeshadows and mascara on. If you have dry skin, this cleansing balm is great as it doesn't leave the skin dry at all, it left my skin pretty soft as well. It smells great too!

Makeup Eraser
$19.97
Also available here: EraseYourFace.org
You basically just remove your makeup with this towel and warm water! This reusable pink towel will remove all your makeup even the waterproof one. One side has shorter fibers which you will use to remove all your makeup and the other side with longer fibers will gently exfoliate your skin. Afterwards just throw it in the wash with your regular laundry. This will last about 1,000 washes!

The picture below, I lent my face to my friend to do a makeup demo, which was really fun. This was not your ordinary, everyday makeup look. She did a more editorial makeup and layered on a lot of products. As you can see, the Makeup Eraser did great and removed all the makeup...BUT my face felt super dry afterwards. Even with gentle circular motions to remove everything, the rubbing motion dried out my skin. I did a hydrating mask later that day and drank tons of water.

As you can see, I only used half of the towel to remove everything. Once I use the other clean side of this towel I will be throwing it in the wash. I do like to use this to remove all my face makeup but not for eyes. My skin do felt pretty exfoliated afterwards but I don't like the dry feeling that I needed to pack on moisturizer after.

Retails for $56
PreCleanse offers a deep cleansing ideal for even the most oily skin conditions, as oil dissolves oil and is formulated without artificial fragrances and colors.

The PreCleanse Wipes are biodegradable wipes that is travel-friendly. One wipe definitely removed all my face and eye makeup BUT it had a strong chemical smell to it. I am not sure if my sample was a bad one, and I haven't really read other reviews on this but I sure did not expect that very off-putting smell to this product that is "formulated without artificial fragrances or colors".
The PreCleanse Oil had less subtle smell to it. I do prefer that this came with a small pump than pouring it out of the bottle since you either pour out too much or not enough on your hand.
I may just use these products to remove makeup swatches than on my face because of the off-putting smell and the oily feeling it leaves on the skin. I have to wash my face right away after using these products which I'd rather skip and just use my face wash.

All three products did remove all of my face and eye makeup including waterproof mascaras and long lasting lipsticks BUT it all gave me different results after using them. If you like your skin feeling soft and hydrated, I would try Dizzolv'It. If you like the feeling of exfoliated skin every time you remove your makeup off, the Makeup Eraser will give you that result!
If you have tried the Dermalogica PreCleanse Oil & Wipes please share in the comments below how your experience was. I love Dermalogica products but this one will be a pass for me.
