Limelight NYC Shops Grand Opening Event

Before the year 2000 rolled in (*and all the yuppies took over the city), Limelight in NYC was one of the clubs to go to. It was this huge club that was located in an old church! It was dark, crowded and loud of house music - well that's what my memory of it is. Not my kind of place really but it was one of those clubs that had to be checked out before I turn...too old for clubbing. It was one of those places to check off the list, basically.

In the early 2000's, the club was shut down and the church was turned into a shopping area. And now they have expanded their location at the South St Seaport area! This place has been looking better and better the last year or so after Superstorm Sandy and I cannot wait to explore this area once again!

Today, the Limelight name is synonymous to chic brands, shopping splurges and a good slice of Pizza. On July 17th, guests and friends gathered to celebrate the introduction of the newest addition to the Limelight Brand at the South Street Seaport. Not only did we applaud the launch of their presence downtown, but seeing lower Manhattan back in business after the devastation that Superstorm Sandy impaled on this area. And what a gorgeous night to do just that.

Last week, I got to attend the Limelight Shops Grand Opening in South Street Seaport. This area is one of my favorite places in downtown. From Pier 17/16, you get an amazing view of Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Bridge over the East River, and I am so happy to see the place is alive again after Superstorm Sandy hit.

Attendees sipped drinks by Maestro Dobel (one tequila, two tequila, three tequila… Floor), enjoyed savory bites byBeeHive Oven and desserts by Vendome Macaron, all while rocking out to throwback beats by DJ Rich Kid. Guests were also treated with activations from Hit eCigs and eCigars, free embellishment on Havaiana Flip Flops, and were even able to print their Instagrams on the spot for an “Insta-Photo.” Those that were privy to VIP access nibbled on Malaysian bites by Mamak and snacked on SexyPop Popcorn in the private garden space.

One of the sponsors of the event was GoGreenRide which provided complimentary ride to the event. Book a ride from your phone, download the GoGreenRide App on your Android or Apple iPhone, and you will receive a text once your car is right in front of your doorstep! No need to wait outside at all!
It definitely beats standing on the corner of the street hailing a cab under the hot Summer sun OR taking the subway where it is steaming hot and crowded!

Group picture with fellow bloggers and the hostess for that night's event, Janine Just Inc. *Ignore the awkward arm on the hips, I'm just an awkward poser (*if I'm not holding a drink or something that arm will be looking awkward!).
It was actually a nice Summer night in the city to celebrate an awesome grand opening in one of my favorite neighborhoods! Great drinks and snacks were served and a lot of great brands to shop here such as Lacoste, Havaianas, Ray-Bans, Vera Bradley, Yankee Candles and so many more.
