What's New from The Makeup Show NYC 2017

One of my favorite weekends of the year is when The Makeup Show (TMS) is in town! This is an event for all beauty students and professionals where they learn more about the beauty business, learn more makeup tricks and tips from a lot of great makeup artists, network with fellow beauty professionals and shop for beauty products with a PRO-discount price.

I have covered this event for many years now. And as a beauty blogger, I am introduced to a lot of new products that just launched. I am able to speak with either the company's owner or their head of PR to talk more about their company and products, and share this experience with you all. I'm very fortunate to be able to attend such an amazing event and meet great people in the beauty industry. I always leave the event feeling more inspired and motivated with what I want to do.

Better have a cup of coffee or tea ready (and maybe some snacks) because this is going to be a long one!
Some of the products that I will be talking about here were part of the Press Gift bag and some I purchased myself. I'm only talking about the products that I am very excited to try and the ones that I have purchased.
I told myself, I wasn't going to purchase any this year as I have enough products at home BUT when I saw the Beautylish booth (which usually sells Bioderma) selling Jeffree Star products. I couldn't pass it up. I have been wanting to buy Jeffree Star's Velour Liquid Lipsticks. I was able to swatch every shade I had my eye on. I also checked out the highlighters and his eyeshadow palettes as well. The shadows swatched really well, and the highlighters are lit! A bit too much for me but if you like that blinding highlight, definitely check out Jeffree Star's highlighter collection.

I wanted to get a lot from this line but I held back and went home with only two of the Velour Liquid Lipstick: first one is the most popular shade Androgyny, a plum mauve matte shadeand the other one is a purple/brown metallic shade called No Tea, No Shade - beautiful for date night and for the Fall.

Both went on like buttah! and in only one application! It's very comfortable on the lips, and it didn't dry my lips at the end of the day. It's long wearing until after eating some greasy food, I noticed most of it was gone. Drinking coffee, snacking and sipping on cocktails - these liquid lipsticks stays put!

*Every year the Press gift bag is filled with James Vincent's (Director of Artistry for The Makeup Show and celebrity makeup artist) favorite products. The Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick is one of his favorite liquid lipsticks as it's very pigmented and long-wearing. I actually have been wearing the UD Vice liquid lipstick in Rapture, and this truly does not budge even after eating or drinking either. I have been alternating this and Androgyny since I got them and both has the same long-wearing,  very pigmented, very comfortable on the lips - qualities.

Another James Vincent favorite from the gift bag is the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Skin BoosterThis is a hydrating face serum that you can either use as part of your skincare routine or you apply before your makeup routine. This comes with a dropper and all I need is 2-3 drops of this serum. It sinks in to the skin really well and I do love the extra hydration my skin gets from it.

Another product from the gift bag is from this newcomer to The Makeup Show, MAKEUPDROPbrand known for The Original Silicone Makeup Applicator which you probably have seen on your social medias. This is a cruelty free, non-toxic, paraben free product that is used to apply foundation or any cream makeup, skincare products. The Silicone Makeup Applicator will eliminate the waste of makeup or skincare products used as this doesn't soak up most of the products like a sponge.
I am not a fan of this applicator. As with any new makeup tools, this took time to get used to holding it, and applying makeup with it. I have only used this a few times and this doesn't blend my foundation as well as a beauty sponge or a makeup brush. I used the same patting motion I do with a beauty sponge, but this is stiffer than a sponge so that wasn't a comfy feeling at all. Using a circular motion, I felt like I am just dragging the product from one area to another, and not really blending it. I will keep playing with this, and I'll let you know on my social media if I have changed my mind on this makeup tool. If you have any tips for me on how to use this, please comment below.

LASH START BEAUTY was founded by Tracy Murphy, a makeup artist and who they call "The Lash Queen" in the industry. They also have a line of eyebrow products and highlighters.

It is the first and only color cosmetics brand rooted in professional makeup artistry to manufacture and distribute a complete line of products devoted to all things eyelashes.  - lashstarbeauty.com

What caught my attention was this Heated Lash Styler with USB charger ($24.00 | lashstarbeauty.com). Tracy has mentioned this is great for lashes that are unruly, since this will help to keep your lashes curled and will elongate the lashes more.
I tried using this alone without curling my lashes but it wasn't working well but when I curl my lashes first (with a lash curler) and then use this, it did get all the unruly lashes curl up.
You can use this as well after applying mascara to elongate your lashes more. So far, I like how my lashes looks longer when I use this and helps keep them curled all day.

Another newcomer to the show and not pictured above is MUSTAEVThey have included one of their Mood Therapy Masks in our bag, and look how cute that packaging is! Each Mustaev sheet mask is made with high performance jelly essence and a woven sheet mask that allows your skin to breath and also provides maximum adherence to provide moisture and nutrition along with repairing the skin.

I like these masks. The serum isn't runny like other face masks. There's some essence left in the packaging if you want to apply this afterwards on your neck and décoletté.

Overall, this was another successful weekend at The Makeup Show NYC. They never fail me to find new brands and products to try, be introduced to tons of new beauty tech tools, and learn the best of beauty from some of the best MUA's in the industry.
